The Crego Collection represents Arms and Militaria from the Revolutionary War through World War II. This comprehensive collection was assembled during the 1950s and early 60s with the assistance of the leading antiques arms dealers. Many of the items were found in their original packaging from Bannerman’s and Norm Fladerman. A rare Springfield M-1842 Musket with Bayonet (Lot 27) is accompanied by a Red Jackson receipt and W. Stokes Kirk is cited as the source of the exceptional battle log in the sale. A number of the guns and swords retain their original collection tags from Abels and Madicus.
This pioneering collection is virtually unaltered from the time it was formed. The depth, authenticity and integrity of the items featured herein are not often found in the marketplace. These items are fresh and for the most part being offered in as found condition. While some guns have been restored as noted, most were done with original parts. It survives as an archive from the golden era of gun collecting.
