Also included in this sale is Sidney Resenberg’s rare and classic Yiddish version of the U.S. Food Administration’s outreach to immigrants poster, $ 1,400-$1,800. In this sale is one of the rarest and most desirable of the World War 1 posters, John Shuley’s framed poster with original hard-backing mounted during WW 1, estimated at $1,800- $2,200.
iGavel has three original pen and ink drawings from the historic caricaturist Arthur Szyk, (1894-1951) This September 2008, The New York Times wrote a lead article on Szyk comparing his work to that of Daumier. $1,800-$3,500. iGavel is also offering a black and white solid glazed stoneware sculpture by Jun Kaneko (Born 1942), a Japanese American ceramic artist, $25,000-$35,000.
George Hitchcock (1850 – 1913), an American painter, one of the more well-known expatriate painters at the turn of the century, is an example of the collection’s American work.
