Included in this auction are paintings from artists of many disciplines, as well as prints, posters, sculpture, and works on paper. Some of the notable works include American artists from the turn of the 20th Century, as well as American abstract artist Irene Rice Pereira (1902 – 1971), known for her work in Geometric abstraction.

The Collection of Val Forgett Posters includes the grand-daddy of recruitment posters, “I Want You For U.S. Army.” Large format. $5,000-$7,000. Also included in this sale is Sidney Resenberg’s rare and classic Yiddish version of the U.S. Food Administration’s outreach to immigrants poster, $ 1,400-$1,800. In this sale is one of the rarest and most desirable of the World War 1 posters, John Shuley’s framed poster with original hard-backing mounted during WW 1, estimated at $1,800- $2,200.

iGavel has three original pen and ink drawings from the historic caricaturist Arthur Szyk, (1894-1951) This September 2008, The New York Times wrote a lead article on Szyk comparing his work to that of Daumier. $1,800-$3,500. iGavel is also offering a black and white solid glazed stoneware sculpture by Jun Kaneko (Born 1942), a Japanese American ceramic artist, $25,000-$35,000.

George Hitchcock (1850 – 1913), an American painter, one of the more well-known expatriate painters at the turn of the century, is an example of the collection’s American work.
