This sale represents a number of different collections. The largest part of the Oriental ceramics and porcelains are the property of a lady from Northern Florida. The objects in this sale were collected in the 60′s & 70′s while living in Thailand, Burma, Japan and China.

The extraordinary Chinese white jade vase was collected in 1926 by an important American collector, William Boyce Thompson. This vase was purchased at Gumps in 1926. Thompson made his fortune in mining and began collecting Russian works of art when in 1917 he attended the American auctions held in Moscow and Petrograd, where he was able to take advantage of the dispersal of Royal Russian treasures. There he purchased an 18th C. French gilt bronze Easter Egg, a gift from a Prime Minister to Emperor Paul I who ruled from 1796 till 1801 when he was murdered by his military leaders.

We also are please to offer an elegant Cartier jadeite, onyx, platinum, diamond and enameled gold necklace along with five other Cartier articles.

We again welcome your spirited bidding.

Thank you,
Don Elder
