LCA’s Fall Sale features a fine grouping of fresh-to-the-market property from many great estates & collections. including: the NYC Headquarters of an International Financial Institution; the Offices of a Major NYC Law Firm; the Marcus Estate (2 Fifth Avenue, NYC); the Collection of Dr. John William Holter & Christiane Dumont (20 East 35th Street, NY); artwork from the Estates of Paul Zimmerman and William A. McCloy for Sale to Benefit the Slater Museum, Norwich, CT; the Estate of Artist Mollyne Karnofsky; and other various properties.
Asian highlights in the sale include: two Chinese Carved Rhinoceros Horn Libation Cups, 17th/18th C. (from the Albert Woodley Collection, Westport, CT), a Chinese Sancai Glazed Tang Dynasty Pottery Horse; a Southeast Asian Seated Bronze Buddha; and other Chinese carvings.
Antique highlights include a pair of George I Silver Beer Jugs, London 1722, with exhibition provenance from Queen Charlotte’s 1929 Loan Exhibition of old silver; 3 Tiffany Flatware Services; a Steinway Rosewood Square Grand Piano (Circa 1860); Wurlitzer Jukebox; Aubusson Tapestries; Carpets & Rugs; Outdoor Furniture & Architectural Elements; Clocks; Glassware & Porcelains; Antique Maps, Prints & Engravings; Antique Firearms including a matched and cased pair of French Dueling/Target Percussion Pistols (C. 1860); and other flintlocks, revolvers and pistols by Colt LW Pond/Smith & Wesson; Robbins and Lawrence & others.
Artwork in this sale includes a selection of works from American and European artists of the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries. Fine Art highlights in the sale include: Paul Delamain ‘Arabian Salute;’ J. Francis Murphy ‘Woodland Brook;’ 18th C. British School ‘Ships at Sea;’ Arbit Blatas (Lithuanian-American) ‘Venice Sunset;’ John Nieto ‘Buffalo Medicine;’ and Armand Augusta Balouzet ‘Fisherman, Miribel;’ plus 17th/18th Century Dutch artists: Dirk Van Bergen, and attributed works by Jan Van Hutchenberg and Adriaen Van Ostade.
