Maryanne_s family founded Hendy Iron Works (1856-1947) in Sunnyvale, California. Hugh_s family were prominent politicians, publishers of the San Jose Mercury News and helped develop the Santa Clara Valley fruit industry. This auction features Asian and Ethnographic art from the Collection of Ron Krannich that he amassed over the last 35 years. As a travel writer he spanned the globe, and as a collector he purchased items he was passionate about along the way.
Other highlights in the auction include American, English and French 18th and 19th century furniture and decorations, the steel sculpture featured above by Ernest Trova, a bronze of Cupid and Psyche by Eugene-Ernest Chretien, a 16th century portrait of Virgin and Child from the Circle of Pieter Coecke van Aelst, several works by Savannah artists Myrtle Jones, Christopher Murphy Jr. and Sr., Hattie Saussy and others.
