The majority of this sale features 20th century American Southeast regional artist from the estate of Ann Dearsley-Vernon. 1938-2015 VA. Artist, educator, activist, and patron to the arts.
Ann Dearsley-Vernon was the first student of the University of North Carolina to be granted a Master of Fine Arts degree. She spent nearly three decades as the education director at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia. In 1960 she was one of three white students to join the Woolworth lunch counter sit-ins in Greensboro, NC.
