During our Winter auction of 2014 taking place February 18 to March 4 East-West Fine Arts will present a wide variety of Chinese jades along with other Chinese works and European etchings and engravings. Select pieces of jade will include a refined statuette of a Guanyin in green jade, and a 19th/20th century greenish grey jade vase depicting an intricately carved landscape with two mandarin ducks. Other Chinese works will include snuff bottles by Ye Zhongshan, Ma Shaoxuan and Zhou Leyuan. Jade pendants, plaques and other smaller work representing the aesthetic vision and refined execution of the artisans responsible for such creations shall also be offered in this auction. This auction features Asian and Ethnographic art from the Collection of Ron Krannich that he amassed over the last 35 years. As a travel writer he spanned the globe, and as a collector he purchased items he was passionate about along the way.
Other highlights in the auction include American, English and French 18th and 19th century furniture and decorations, the steel sculpture featured above by Ernest Trova, a bronze of Cupid and Psyche by Eugene-Ernest Chretien, a 16th century portrait of Virgin and Child from the Circle of Pieter Coecke van Aelst, several works by Savannah artists Myrtle Jones, Christopher Murphy Jr. and Sr., Hattie Saussy and others.
