There is no lull in the action at Nye and Company. With summer looming and the academic calendar winding down, they are putting together a June auction rivaling anything offered to date. The sale gets posted to www.igavelauctions.com, Wednesday, June 5th and will remain open for bidding until the 19th. Over1000 lots come from all over the tri-state area, but the most interesting collection was housed on a farm in the Shenandoah Mountains until coming to New Jersey for sale. Three generations of an Italian/American family escaped the rigors of a metropolitan lifestyle for the bucolic hills of rural Virginia. Nestled in the Shenandoah Mountains, the 18th century house commanded sweeping vistas of the rolling hills. Though the family emigrated from Italy in the early 20th century, branches include a Jewish line, an old Baltimore family, that go back to Turkey and others from the Central Europe. As a result, there are good examples of Continental furniture and a wide variety of silver. In early 2010, Nye and Company relocated to Bloomfield, New Jersey making them more easily accessible to New York City. Our location, on the banks of what was formerly the historic Morris canal, is moments off major interstate arties (Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, Routes 80, 280, 287) and State Routes 3, 46 and 23.
