There will be a "Live" Preview/Exhibition taking place in Litchfield, CT. on July 17-19 in The Litchfield Firehouse, and lots will close through out the day on July 20. Some of the highlights of this sale include a Picasso terracotta vase: "Large vase w/ veiled women" # 18/25, 26" h. There is also another Picasso ceramic, a pottery pitcher, from an East 72nd Street Collection in New York City. Other fine art includes several Old Master paintings, as well as works by artists such as Auguste Rodin, Fausto Pirandello, Willem de Kooning, Marc Chagall, Berthe Morisot, Ben Shahn, Wallasse Ting, Kiyoshi Saito, Lichtenstein, Warhol, Christo and works after/attributed to Vigee Lebrun, Chas Alexandre Roslin, Aristide Maillol & Eugene Boudin. The furniture in the sale is also quite exciting with pieces ranging from 16/17th C. English, Italian Renaissance and Spanish Renaissance to some very good Louis XV & Louis XVI French, Italian & Dutch inlaid furniture with makers that include Claude Louis Burgat, Nicolas Alexandre Lapie & Jean Baptiste Fromageau. There is an Iberian hanging wall corner cupboard, dated 1784, as well as a variety of 19th & early 20th C. Louis XV/XVI style & also Victorian, Asian & a few American pieces. In the decorative Arts category is a very nice, somewhat eclectic grouping of English, French, German, Italian & Asian, etc. Pottery, Porcelain, Glass, Enamel & Hardstones; highlights from this group include an Italian Majolica vase, 18/19 C., 2 Lalique etched glass vases, a French enamel footed box, 19th C., w. gilt mounts. From England, there is an interesting pr. of 19th C. Wedgwood Urns, and a variety of Clarice Cliff pottery pieces, Wedgwood dinnerware & a Royal Worcester "Rosemary" dinner service. Asian items run the gamut from Ming, Kanxi & 18th C. to 19th & early 20th C. Chinese & Japanese blue & white, sang de bouef, green glaze, blue glaze, poly-chromed, flambe, calligraphy designed, rock crystal, red amber, malachite, & cloisonn_ vases, bowls, chargers, figures and tiles and more. There is also interesting Silver & Silver Plate, several clocks and a large collection of Entertainment Memorabilia. This memorabilia comes from the collection of an Upper East side woman who was in the business for many years.
