Margaret Mitchell and Axel Mathiesen struck up a friendship and corresponded between the years 1937 and 1939. This was just after Gone With the Wind was published and the movie was being cast and lmed. The lot includes the scrapbook with 7 signed Margaret Mitchell letters, two Confederate bills signed by Margaret Mitchell, press clippings, and a 1945 edition of the Danish version of Gone With the Wind as well as four original illustrations by Axel Mathiesen. Other highlights from the auction include a Louis XVI Ormolu Mantel Clock signed Pochon, Pair of Louis XVI OrmoluTazzas, Minton Garden Seat by George Jones , a Collection of Clocks, Silver including Cartier and Gorham, a Collection of Asian Art, Glass including Lalique, Rugs and many interesting group lots. Fine Art includes a wonderful large bronze by Eutrope Bouret with pedestal mount, a collection of Polish Art, a Lowell Nesbitt flower painting, a mid century sculpture by George Koras and a handsome pair of English Portraits from the school of Peter Lely. This auction features Asian and Ethnographic art from the Collection of Ron Krannich that he amassed over the last 35 years.  As a travel writer he spanned the globe, and as a collector he purchased items he was passionate about along the way.  

Other highlights in the auction include American, English and French 18th and 19th century furniture and decorations, the steel sculpture featured above by Ernest Trova, a bronze of Cupid and Psyche by Eugene-Ernest Chretien, a 16th century portrait of Virgin and Child from the Circle of Pieter Coecke van Aelst, several works by Savannah artists Myrtle Jones, Christopher Murphy Jr. and Sr., Hattie Saussy and others.
