Included is property from a variety of collections and estates, including the late Dr. Gustav and Marie Schilder. The Schilder's fled their native Austria at the onset of World War II and settled in western Canada. Dr. Schilder collected with great enthusiasm over many years until his passing in 1978. Marie Schilder was an accomplished concert pianist and played throughout her long life, passing away a few years ago at one hundred three years of age. This sale boasts a good selection of European and American furniture, decorations, ceramics, a wonderful collection of pewter, Asian works of art, paintings and prints. Highlights include the unique Austrian commemorative sculpture, the Bechstein grand piano, the Irish Regency games table and a newly found painting by early California artist Charles Rollo Peters. This auction features Asian and Ethnographic art from the Collection of Ron Krannich that he amassed over the last 35 years. As a travel writer he spanned the globe, and as a collector he purchased items he was passionate about along the way.
Other highlights in the auction include American, English and French 18th and 19th century furniture and decorations, the steel sculpture featured above by Ernest Trova, a bronze of Cupid and Psyche by Eugene-Ernest Chretien, a 16th century portrait of Virgin and Child from the Circle of Pieter Coecke van Aelst, several works by Savannah artists Myrtle Jones, Christopher Murphy Jr. and Sr., Hattie Saussy and others.
