The sales are not yet finished, but this year Asia Week New York seems to be headed towards a solid performance. Over 40 dealers and galleries participated this year and five sponsor auction houses, resulting in a combined focus on Asian Art that arguably exceeds that of anywhere else in the world. The program's cultural events have proven popular with the thousands of visitors to New York City, and the updated and improved Asia Week website has been of enormous benefit to out out of town guests.

As the week draws to a close, several special events remain. Of particular interest is a talk by Dr. Richard Pegg, Director and Curator of Asian Art for the MacLean Collection, entitled: "Mapping Qianlong’s Empire: Late Eighteenth Century Chinese Maps." Early maps of China are of particular interest to many scholars because they reflect the social and scientific changes that have changed the modern world. Dr. Pegg's talk promises to be an illuminating and fascinating discussion on the subject.   Final results from Asia Week will be posted in the coming week. Analysis will inevitably show areas that exceeded expectations and some that fell short, and will help us prepare for Asia Week 2014.
