Last week's auction results were led by the selections from East-West Fine Arts Inaugural Auction. The top lots from the sale include: Charles-Franois Daubigny "On the Seine", Jacques-Louis David "Portrait of a Lady in Profile", Charles-Francois Daubigny “A River Landscape", Albrecht Durer “Christ Washing the Feet of Saint Peter” and Monumental Chinese Jade Vessel.

Charles-Franois Daubigny "On the Seine"

Description Charles-Franois Daubigny (French-1817-1878) "On the Seine" Oil on canvas. Painting size - 35.5x55.8 cm. In a period frame. Frame size 50.8x71.1 cm. Signed, "Daubigny" lower right. In 1857 Daubigny acquired his studio boat Le Botin, in which he explored the rivers Seine, Marne and Oise for several years. The boat in this painting (pictured in the background, lower left) is quite possibly Le Botin and very similar to the drawing in the Louvre titled “Le Botin". Daubigny's finest pictures were painted between 1864 and 1874, and these for the most part consist of carefully completed river landscapes of which he painted a great number. This painting is one such example of Daubigny's river landscapes. Provenance Formerly from a collection in Bern, Switzerland. Property of the family since around 1900.

Jacques-Louis David "Portrait of a Lady in Profile"

Description Jacques-Louis David (French, 1748-1825) "Portrait of a Lady in Profile" Black chalk, heightened with white Signed, lower left; "L David F" Framed in a gold gilt frame. Special Note - This drawing has been authenticated by the director of the prints and drawings department of the Hessisches Landesmuseum in Darmstadt, Germany. This particular work is characteristic of David's more finished profile portrait drawings such as: "Portrait of Jean Bon Saint-Andre" at the Art Institute of Chicago and "Portrait of Andre-Antoine Bernard" at the J. Paul Getty museum.

Charles-Francois Daubigny “A River Landscape"

Description Charles-Francois Daubigny (French-1817-1878) “A River Landscape". Oil on cradled panel Panel size, 17x37 cm. In a period frame. Signed, lower left,“Daubigny". A fine example of Daubigny's plein air painting depicting the typical river landscape with a figure in a boat near the river bank. The confident brushwork and chiaroscuro technique perfectly captures the moody country side landscape.

Provenance From a collection in Koblenz, Germany.

Albrecht Durer “Christ Washing the Feet of Saint Peter”

Description Albrecht Durer (German 1471-1528) “Christ Washing the Feet of Saint Peter” Collector’s mark verso – Alfred Franchomme (1868-1927) Lugt -3272. Woodcut on laid paper, 1510 (B 25), matted.

Monumental Chinese Jade Vessel

Description Very large 19/20th century Chinese jade vessel with cover. The entire work has been intricately carved with various motifs of dragons, flowers, elephant heads and archaic geometric details. The cover of the vessel consists of a phoenix at rest. Upper portion of vessel has two sets of elephant heads with rings, (one on either side of the sculpture) while the stand consists of an archaistic design incised and in relief. Provenance From a south Florida collection.
