REMOTE CONSIGNMENT & SALES

By:
Lark Mason Associates

WHAT IS A REMOTE CONSIGNMENT?

A remote consignment is when a consignor photographs and measures the item(s) and one of our specialists describes the item(s) based on the photographs and information provided by the consignor.

After an agreement on pricing and terms has been made between the consignor and our company the item is then listed on the iGavel Auctions website.

When an item sells, it will be shipped directly from consignor’s home via a vetted third-party shipper. We provide contact details of reliable shippers in the consignor’s area.

If an item does not sell, the consignor receives an automatic email with an option to re-offer the item at a lowered estimate and reserve.

HOW DO I GET AN ESTIMATE OF VALUE FOR MY OBJECT?

We offer complimentary virtual auction estimates. To learn more about virtual evaluations call 212-289-5524 or send us images and information through this online form.

In addition, we offer professional formal appraisals for Fair Market Value, Retail Replacement Value, and Estate and other purposes. Email appraisals@larkmason.com to request a formal appraisal.

WHY CONSIGN REMOTELY?

It is not always possible or advisable to send items to our company. In those instances, our remote consignment process allows consignors to participate in a sale that reaches an international audience with a single item or group of items, while keeping the consignment at their home or business. We will advise you if a remote consignment is right for your collection.

HOW DOES THE REMOTE CONSIGNMENT PROCESS WORK?

1. PHOTOGRAPH ITEM

  • We provide a detailed “How-to” on photographing and cataloging. Share your high-res images with us via an online file transfer platform.
  • We recommend using WeTransfer to share you images as it is a free, reliable, and user-friendly website.

2. EXAMINATION

Consignor will provide LMA with the following information via email:

Dimensions

  • Height, length, and width in feet and inches
  • For round objects: height & diameter in feet and inches

Weight

  • Pounds or ounces taken on a standard scale or kitchen scale when applicable
  • For oversized objects such as furniture, an approximate weight is greatly appreciated though not always necessary

Cataloging

  • A specialist will provide the consignor with a title and create a condition report based on the images and information provided.
  • It is very important that the consignor examines the item(s) very closely and notifies us of any condition issues that might not be easily conveyed through the photos.

3. FULFILLMENT

Upon the sale of the item(s), we will receive payment for item(s) and pay out the consignor in a timely manner.

4. SHIPPING

We work with reliable third-party shippers that are local to the consignor to have the items sent to the purchaser. Please note it may be necessary for the consignor to drop the item off depending on the consignor’s local area.
